a survey on the effects of spirulina's (arthrosphia maxima) biomass and carrots on body pigmentation of pseudotropheus zebra

this study evaluates the effects of spirulina (arthrosphia maxima) and carrots (daucus carota) powder on body color changes of 330 pseudoteropheus zebra with average 15 g initial weight, in 35 days experimental period. as the results showed, the best content of steamed carrot in wet diet was 20 %, and all the factors except background color showed significant differences with control treatment (p<0.05). in both experimental groups, the colorimetric factor showed significant differences with control treatment and the saturation of blue spectrum was more than red spectrum. in conclusion, the spirulina was the better carothenoid pigment.
